Sa mga hirap maka-getover…..

March 7th, 2007 by erlebnis

Sonnet XX

(a translation of Pablo Neruda’s "Tonight I can write the saddest lines" by Mark Angeles)

Kaya kong magbitiw ng bitter words ngayong gabi.
Mag-scribble-skribulan halimbawa: "Ang gabi aypilantod

parang pugita?

Kaya kong magbitiw ng bitter words ngayong gabi.
Imagine kong wala sya sakin.

Period.

KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD
by F. Magalona

So many faces, so many races
                                Different voices, different choices
Some are mad, while others laugh
Some live alone with no better half
                                Others grieve while others curse
And others mourn behind a big black hearse
Some are pure and some half-bred
Some are sober and some are wasted
Some are rich because of fate and
Ome are poor with no food on their plate
Some stand out while others blend
Some are fat and stout while some are thin
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most

[chorus]
                                Every color and every hue
Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope
Take a look in the kaleidoscope
                                Spinnin’ round, make it twirl
                                In this kaleidoscope world

Some are great and some are few
Others lie while some tell the truth
Some say poems and some do sing
Others sing through their guitar strings
Some know it all while some act dumb
Let the bassline strum to the bang of the drum
Some can swim while some will sink
And some will find their minds and think
                                Others walk while others run
You can’t talk peace and have a gun
Some are hurt and start to cry
Don’t ask me how don’t ask me why
Some are friends and some are foes
Some have some while some have most

[repeat chorus]

IRONIC
by A. Morisette

An old man turned ninety-eight

He won the lottery and died the next day

It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay

It’s a death row pardon two minutes too late

Isn’t it ironic … don’t you think

Chorus

It’s like rain on your wedding day

It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid

It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take

Who would’ve thought … it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly

He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids good-bye

He waited his whole damn life to take that flight

And as the plane crashed down he thought

‘Well isn’t this nice…’

And isn’t it ironic … don’t you think

Repeat Chorus

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you

When you think everything’s okay and everything’s going right

And life has a funny way of helping you out when

You think everything’s gone wrong and everything blows up

In your face

It’s a traffic jam when you’re already late

It’s a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break

It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife

It’s meeting the man of my dreams

And then meeting his beautiful wife

And isn’t it ironic… don’t you think

A little too ironic… and yeah I really do think…

Repeat Chorus

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you

Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out

Helping you out

Wala mang katiyakan,      muling pagsasama

Wala mang katiyakan…

poesis: SUDDEN COLDNESS

SUDDEN COLDNESS
18 November 2006

Fair youth, beneath the trees, thou canst not leave
   Thy song, not ever can those trees be bare;
Bold Lover, never, never canst thou kiss,
Though winning near the goal — yet, do not grieve;
She cannot fade, though thou has t not thy bliss,
For ever wilt thou love, and she be fair!
- Keats

Chills coming from the spine after it was poked
crawled to the breathing carcass until it reached the hollow heart.
The heart became ice-frozen on the surface till it cracked;
the water gushed forth — they were tears that dropped deep
down the bosom, after the mighty-head shattered into pieces.

Water gushing from the heart gave more chills, for it is
now mixed with the sad breath of a dead chimney.
Now there’s but black and cold to fill the space of what
was once bright and warm.  Flame and chilled water are both too
difficult to hold: one would be too hot, the other would be too cold.

There’s nothing to look at and nothing to hold dear.
For everything that is sudden will all be gone and done.

sa biyaya ng buhay

October 28th, 2006 by erlebnis

itong biyaya. salamat. wag kang mag-alala, walang humpay akong
maninindigan.

lumalaban, sumusugal, nakikipagsapalaran, lumalago, nagmamahal.

when arms cant bear, where one can hide, where it’s safe inside

ARMS OF LOVE
Gary Chapman, Michael W. Smith and Amy GrantStand_by_me_still_1

performed by Veepee Pinpin
in the CD Stand by me still

Lord I’m really glad You’re here.

I hope You feel the same
When You see all my fears
And how I fail, I fall sometimes

It’s had to walk on shifting sand
I miss the rock and find
I’ve nowhere left to stand
I start to cry, Lord please help me!

Bridge:
Raise my hands
so You can lift me up
Hold me close.
Hold me tighter.

Refrain:
I have found a place where I can hide.
It’s safe inside Your arms of love.
Like a child who’s held throughout the storm,
You keep me warm in Your arms of love.

Storms may come and storms may go.
I wonder just how many storms it takes until,
I finally know You’re here always.

Bridge2:
Even when my skies are far from gray,
I can stay.  Teach me to stay there –

Refrain2:
In the place I’ve found where I can hide.
It’s safe inside Your arms of love.
Like a child who’s held throughout the storm,
You keep me warm in Your arms of love
In Your arms of love.
