Tuesday, October 18th, 2005When people know and think that they’re wisest
When people know and they brag about it
When people know wrongly and they brag about it
When people know and they don’t use what they know
When people don’t know and they brag about it
When people refuse to know because they are comfortable not to know
When people refuse to know because they know that they are wrong
When people don’t even give a “deymn” to know (pardon the pun)
When people whine about things that they can change
When people whine and not do anything about it
When people play passive while they’re not supposed to
When people bother others without putting their efforts to the threshold
It is a mortal sin to use philosophy as an excuse to be a rockstar, to stratify firm-bratty convictions, to justify negligence and deliberate (vincible) ignorance, to shut one’s heart from feeling or to save one’s life from his personally concocted mess. If that is the case philosophy can just make man float on thin air, going everywhere while heading nowhere. It is good to be profoundly intelligent, but being one requires a concrete and self-determined direction.
The first thing that philosophy can do is to humanize the person. - Alfredo P. Co
